Electronics ROV Engineer

Due to continued expansion, we have an immediate opening for an Electronics Engineer to join our organisation.  Working for a small dynamic company, you will have exposure to many varied aspects of our business operations with opportunities to broaden your knowledge.  You will form part of a specialised team responsible for the maintenance and repair of robotic inspection equipment.  You will also play an important role in the running and development of our product rental operations.

We are looking for a candidate with previous experience of working with remote inspection technology, and a desire to contribute to the development of both existing and new inspection solutions.  The ideal candidate will be qualified to HND level in Electronic Engineering, as a minimum.

Purpose of the job

To maintain and ensure smooth-running of business rental operations, supporting product development and innovation.

Company Overview

Spectis Robotics specialises in the sale, rental, design and development of robotic crawlers, underwater ROVs and inspection cameras.

Main Duties

  • Fundamental role in the running of business rental and repair operations including; Providing timely, accurate quotations for rental/ repair RFQs; Mobilisation and demobilisation equipment checks; Maintaining records relating to the status and location of rental equipment; Reporting of  any defect or resource issue that affects equipment availability.
  • Carrying out trend analysis on equipment faults, identifying operational and technical improvements which will enhance capability, performance and reliability of the company’s product range.
  • Assist in the development of improved testing and workshop facilities.
  • Developing and monitoring planned maintenance schedules for the business rental fleet.
  • Monitoring and maintenance of equipment spares inventory.
  • Liaising closely with clients to gather feedback on fleet performance and coordinate the development of operational and technical improvements.
  • Liaising with OEMs, providing product performance feedback.
  • Assisting Project Engineer as and when required, develop designs (components, PCBs, sub-assemblies), which meet the project cost, manufacturability, reliability and quality targets.

Essential competencies

  • Ability to read, understand and design electronic schematics for repair, maintenance and development activities. 
  • A diploma/ degree qualification in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering.
  • Previous experience of working with remote inspection technology, and a desire to contribute to the development of both existing and new inspection solutions.
  • Ability to carry out repairs and maintenance of electronics including cable assemblies and PCBs for remote visual inspection equipment 
  • Experience with mechanical and electronic systems.
  • Ability to understand emerging technologies see their possibilities and apply them appropriately.
  • Strong relationship skills – Ability to thrive as part of a team, managing relationships internally and externally.
